Kumaon Tour 2026: Nainital, Almora, Kausani, Ranikhet & Jim Corbett
Our Kumaon tour is a 6 nights 7 days road trip through the hills of eastern Uttarakhand for families, couples and friends who have already seen Nainital and want to go further. The plan covers Nainital, Kainchi Dham, Almora, Jageshwar, Binsar, Kausani and Ranikhet by private cab from Delhi or Noida, with an optional night at Jim Corbett and Munsiyari as an extension.

Kumaon tour at a glance
A Kumaon tour usually takes 6 nights and 7 days from Delhi, or 7 nights and 8 days if you add a night at Jim Corbett on the way. Nainital, the first stop, is about 300 km from Delhi. March to June and October to February are the best months. Every plan is private, by cab, with hotels and meals.

In short, a Kumaon tour is Nainital plus the quieter hill towns most weekend trips never reach.
How many days are enough for a Kumaon tour?
Seven days is the comfortable minimum. Kumaon roads are narrow and winding, so a hill town that looks close on the map can still take half a day to reach. With fewer days you either rush or drop Kausani. Here is how we size it:
- 5–6 days: Nainital, Kainchi Dham, Almora and Kausani only.
- 7 days: the full Kumaon tour below, with Jageshwar, Binsar and Ranikhet.
- 8 days: add a night at Jim Corbett (Ramnagar) on the way up or back.
- 10 days or more: add Munsiyari and Patal Bhuvaneshwar, which are far and need extra days.
If you only have a long weekend, take our Delhi to Nainital trip with Kainchi Dham instead of a full Kumaon tour.
Day-wise Kumaon tour itinerary

This is the order most guests choose. We send the Kumaon tour plan in writing and change it to suit your dates and pace.
Day 1: Delhi to Nainital (about 6–7 hours)
Your driver picks you up early from Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad or Gurugram, or from the railway station or airport. The road climbs past Kathgodam and Khurpatal lake to Nainital. Check in and take an evening walk on Mall Road beside Naini Lake.
Day 2: Nainital sightseeing
Start with Snow View Point and Tiffin Top while the air is clear. Then see Cave Garden, Lovers Point and Raj Bhavan. In the afternoon, visit Naina Devi Temple and take a boat on Naini Lake (boating at your own cost). Hanuman Garhi is a good stop for sunset.
Day 3: Kainchi Dham and on to Almora
Check out after breakfast and drive about 17 km to Kainchi Dham, the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba, for darshan. Continue to Almora, about 65 km from Nainital. In the evening, visit Kasar Devi temple on the ridge above the town.
Day 4: Jageshwar temples and Binsar
A full day out from Almora. Visit the Jageshwar temple group in the morning, then drive to Binsar for the forest and, on a clear day, a view of the snow peaks. Return to Almora, or stay a night near Binsar if you prefer quiet.
Day 5: Almora to Kausani
Drive to Kausani through pine country. The afternoon is free to rest. Watch the light change on the peaks at sunset from your hotel or the main viewpoint.
Day 6: Kausani sunrise and Ranikhet
Wake early for sunrise over Trishul and Nanda Devi, the reason Kausani is on every Kumaon tour. After breakfast, drive to Ranikhet and spend the afternoon on an easy walk around this cantonment town.
Day 7: Ranikhet to Delhi
Leave early after breakfast and drive down to the plains and on to Delhi or Noida. On the 8-day plan, stop the night at Ramnagar for a Jim Corbett safari and reach Delhi on Day 8. That completes the Kumaon tour.
Places you will see on a Kumaon tour
- Nainital: Naini Lake, Naina Devi Temple, Mall Road, Snow View Point, Tiffin Top, Cave Garden, Hanuman Garhi and Nainital Zoo.
- Kainchi Dham: the Neem Karoli Baba ashram, about 17 km from Nainital and busy on weekends.
- Almora: a market town about 65 km from Nainital, with Kasar Devi temple above it.
- Jageshwar: a group of old stone temples.
- Binsar: forest and Himalayan views, a quiet half day.
- Kausani: sunrise views of Trishul and Nanda Devi.
- Ranikhet: a calm cantonment town for the last night.
- Add-ons: Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal lakes, Mukteshwar (about 50 km from Nainital), Patal Bhuvaneshwar and Munsiyari.
You can swap any of these; just tell us when you ask for a quote.
Can I add Jim Corbett or Munsiyari to my Kumaon tour?
Jim Corbett: Yes. Ramnagar is about 250 km from Delhi and about 65 km from Nainital, so it fits as a night on the way up or back. Safari permits are booked on the official Corbett Tiger Reserve site and are not part of our quote. Most zones close in the monsoon (roughly mid-June to mid-October) while Jhirna and Dhela stay open, so check before you book. Tiger sightings are never guaranteed. For a Corbett-focused plan, see our Nainital and Jim Corbett tour.
Munsiyari: Yes, but it is far from the rest of the circuit, so add at least two or three days. It suits travellers who want the high mountains and do not mind long drives.
What is the best time for a Kumaon tour?
March to June is pleasant and the most popular time for a Kumaon tour, with long days for driving. October to February is cold, the skies are often clear for mountain views, and there is a chance of snow in the coldest weeks. July to September is the monsoon, when landslides can block hill roads; if you plan a Kumaon tour then, keep a spare day. Check the forecast on the India Meteorological Department site before you leave, and carry warm layers in every season.
How to reach Kumaon from Delhi
By road: Nainital is about 300 km, 6–7 hours from Delhi. We run it by road with the same cab and driver from pickup to drop.
By train: Kathgodam is the nearest railway station, about 34 km from Nainital. Our cab can meet you there and take you on from there.
By air: Pantnagar is the nearest airport, about 70 km from Nainital. Most guests still prefer the road because the cab is needed between towns anyway.

Tips for your Kumaon tour
- Leave Delhi around 5–6 am on Day 1 of your Kumaon tour to avoid traffic.
- Anyone who gets motion sickness should sit in front and carry medicine; Kumaon roads have many bends.
- Kainchi Dham is crowded on weekends, so we try to reach early.
- Mobile signal can be weak around Binsar and Jageshwar; download maps offline.
- Avoid driving in the hills after dark; we plan each day to arrive before sunset.
- In the monsoon, keep one buffer day at the end of your Kumaon tour.
Prefer one easy town? See our 3-day Nainital tour with Kainchi Dham.
