Do Dham Yatra: Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra in 5–6 Days

The Do Dham Yatra covers two of the four dhams – Kedarnath and Badrinath – and is the most popular short pilgrimage in Uttarakhand. A Kedarnath Badrinath yatra takes 5–6 days from Haridwar, compared with 9–10 days for the full Char Dham circuit, which makes it ideal for working families and senior citizens.

Do Dham Yatra or Char Dham Yatra?

If you have only a week, the Do Dham Yatra gives you the two most important shrines – the Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva at Kedarnath and the temple of Lord Vishnu at Badrinath. The full Char Dham Yatra adds Yamunotri and Gangotri and about four more days of driving. Many families do the Kedarnath Badrinath yatra first and return another year for the other two dhams.

6-day Do Dham Yatra itinerary from Haridwar

Kedarnath on the Do Dham Yatra

The first half of the Kedarnath Badrinath yatra is the trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, about 16 km one way. You can walk, hire a pony or palki, or fly from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi with tickets from the official IRCTC HeliYatra site. Read the full Kedarnath Yatra guide.

Badrinath on the Do Dham Yatra

The second half of the Kedarnath Badrinath yatra is much easier: the road goes right up to Badrinath town. After darshan, visit Tapt Kund, Mana village and Vyas Gufa. Kedarnath Badrinath yatra cost

A private Swift Dzire costs ₹12/km, an Ertiga ₹15/km and an Innova Crysta ₹20/km, with a minimum of 250 km per day and a daily driver allowance. For six days that means billing on at least 1,500 km. Tips for the Kedarnath Badrinath yatra

• Register every person before travel – see Char Dham Yatra registration.
• Best months: May–June and mid-September–October; avoid the monsoon.
• Keep one spare day after Kedarnath for weather or long queues.
• Senior citizens: plan the Kedarnath trek by pony, palki or helicopter.
• Carry warm clothes; both temples are above 3,000 m.
